Caterers in the Ashanti region's school feeding program have threatened to protest due to unpaid arrears from September 2023 to June 2024, despite government assurances.
The delay has severely impacted their operations, and they face financial obligations and legal threats from creditors.
They have issued an ultimatum for payment by June 26, warning of imminent protest if unmet.
Africa Education Watch suggests a 200% funding increase (GH¢3 billion) is needed to sustain the program and provide quality meals, emphasizing the urgency to address caterers' plight and ensure the program's continuity.
