The Auditor-General's 2022 report has revealed severe issues in Ghana's School Feeding Programme (GSFP), where basic school pupils were served unwholesome food.
Mouldy corn dough was observed in meals at some schools, and dishes like jollof rice were prepared without required protein.
Complaints from pupils about food quality, including foreign materials and bad taste, were reportedly ignored by caterers despite feedback to teachers.
The audit highlighted systemic failures in meal preparation and management, undermining the program's goal to enhance school enrollment and nutrition since its inception in 2005.
