President of the Madina Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), Prof Abdulai Salifu Asuro, has expressed concern about the low patronage of Science and Technology education at the tertiary level in Ghana.
According to him, even though Science and Technology education is very key to the development of Ghana, the private sector investors choose to invest little in
Prof Asuro who was speaking at a press conference in Accra stated that even though it is a challenge, his outfit (Madina Institute of Science and Technology) is determined to provide quality but affordable tertiary education in that regard to the people of Ghana and other African countries.
He said the school which is an off-shoot of the Madina Foundation for Science and Technology (MFST), is running educational institutions at various levels in the country for Ghanaians and students from other African countries.
“As key investors in the education sector, the directors of MFST saw the need to inculcate in Ghanaian and African youth, great academic credentials coupled with a high degree of moral consciousness which would enable them to serve their communities with integrity, humility, selflessness, dedication and commitment,” he noted.
Having established several educational institutions in the country at the primary and secondary levels including one for orphans, Prof Asuro said, “MFST saw the establishment of a tertiary educational institution as a logical follow-up in their efforts to provide quality but affordable tertiary education to the people of Ghana and Africa at large.”
Madina Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) is accredited by the National Accreditation Board to provide quality but affordable tertiary education to graduates with a unique orientation, graduates who will not only excel and rub shoulders with the best scholars globally.
MIST is affiliated to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST) for Engineering programmes (Oil & Gas Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering), and the University for Development Studies (UDS) for Business programmes (Marketing, Banking & Finance, Accountancy and Human Relations).
