The Supreme Court upheld its ruling allowing four MPs to retain their seats despite Speaker Alban Bagbin’s declaration of vacancies, dismissing the Speaker’s appeal as without merit.

This decision follows a suit by MP Alexander Afenyo-Markin challenging Bagbin’s action.

The Court also rejected Speaker’s counsel Thaddeus Sory’s objection to Justice Ernest Gaewu’s involvement due to his prior affiliation with the ruling NPP.

This ruling, which paused the Speaker's declaration, is significant given the closely contested majority in Parliament.
