Secretary-General of Commonwealth arrives in Ghana for youth meeting

The Secretary-General of Commonwealth, Rt. Hon. Patricia Scotland has arrived in the country to join the Youth Senior Officials Meeting (African Region) ongoing at the Tang Palace Hotel, which is expected to run from 29th to 31st October, 2019.

Deputy Minister, Hon. Curtis Perry Okudzeto who was at the airport to welcome her stated that Ghana is proud to have and host her for such an important meeting.

Hon. Curtis Perry Okudzeto who is also the Chairperson for the meeting briefed the Secretary-General on the proceedings of the deliberations so far and assured her of Government's commitment and support for the Commonwealth Secretariat towards the development of young people in the African Region and the world at large.

Rt. Hon. Patricia Scotland expressed gratitude to Government for the dedication and noted that the problems of the young people have somewhat become critical and was of great belief that the meeting will help resolve such issues.

In attendance were the Chief ExecutiveOOfficer (CEO) of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Mr. Sylvester Matthew Tetteh, Mr.Layne Robinson, Head of Social Policy Development, Commonwealth Secretariat, Mr. Ekow Eshun, Director Human Resource and Administration, NYA and Mrs. Dinah Boateng, Head of Protocol, Ministry of Youth and Sports.
