The Vice-Chancellor (VC)of the University of Ghana, Professor Ebenezer-Oduro Owusu, has through his lawyers demanded a retraction of stories and an apology from Omni Media Limited, operators of Citi FM, Citi TV and citinewsroom.com for publishing alleged sexual harassment allegations against him.
According to a letter sighted by MyNewsGh.com dated 12th October, 2019, by Amenuvor and Associates, lawyers for Professor Ebenezer Oduro-Owusu, the publications that Ms Andrea Pizziconi, Chief Executive of Africa Integras, had accused him of sexual harassment are false and defamatory and had injured the reputation of their client and that he (the Vice-chancellor) therefore demands a retraction and an apology from the media house within 24 hours.
“Our client’s reputation had been injured in the eyes of his professional associations, the university community, affiliates, family and in the eyes of the objective and reasonable thinking persons by the false news or allegation carried by your widely patronized media,” the letter stated.
The letter then added that: “We have our client’s instructions to demand and which we hereby forcefully do that you retract the defamatory and false allegation of sexual harassment published against him and that you render an unqualified apology to him.”
