All shops in Accra have closed on July 2 for a massive clean-up exercise initiated by the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, in preparation for the Homowo Festival.

The “Let’s Keep Accra Clean” campaign, in collaboration with the Ga Traditional Council and government agencies, aims to promote good waste management practices and community ownership.

The month-long exercise will cover all 25 local authorities in Greater Accra, focusing on household registration for organized waste collection, waste management education, and by-law enforcement.

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has organized activities into six zones, starting with areas within the Accra Metropolitan Assembly.
