Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has launched the Homowo Clean-up exercise, a month-long campaign to promote good waste management practices and environmental cleanliness in Accra.
The exercise, starting July 2, will involve household registration, education, and enforcement of bylaws. The Ga Mantse warned against politicization and urged residents to adhere to sanitation bylaws, with a special task force deployed to arrest offenders.
Sanitation competitions will be held, and awards given to the cleanest schools, communities, markets, and lorry stations.
Government ministries and agencies have pledged support, with resources and expertise committed to ensuring the initiative's success.
