Soldiers deployed to a galamsey area in Bole, Savannah Region, allegedly brutalized Yakubu Mahama, the Vice Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The soldiers were reportedly protecting Chinese nationals engaged in illegal mining. A confrontation occurred when Mahama requested to meet the team leader.
The situation escalated, and Mahama’s brother, along with the NPP Secretary for Bole-Bamboi and a group of young men, intervened, worsening the chaos.
The soldiers allegedly fired gunshots and assaulted Mahama, causing injuries. Mahama’s brother warned the soldiers that such actions would not be tolerated in the future.
