Some candidates now insert phone numbers and money in answer booklets – WAEC reveals

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has uncovered a new malpractice tactic where candidates hide money and contact numbers in answer booklets to influence results.

John Kapi, WAEC's Head of Corporate Affairs, emphasized stringent measures to prevent cheating, including thorough searches and barring unauthorized personnel from exam centers.

He warned that candidates attempting these tactics or writing pleas in their booklets will face penalties.

Victor Brew, WAEC's Head of Legal Affairs, noted that four candidates from the previous year have been convicted for exam malpractice, highlighting the seriousness of these offences.
