Some people have decided there should be no peace – Prof Aning

Security consultant Prof. Kwesi Aning has questioned the idea that peace benefits everyone, suggesting that some individuals profit from unrest in Ghana.

Speaking at the National Dialogue on Peace Beyond Election 2024, he highlighted that certain groups make decisions that disrupt peace for personal gain.

Prof. Aning expressed concern over Ghana’s declining rank on the Peace Index, now 4th in West Africa and 43rd globally.

He emphasized the need for citizen engagement to maintain peace and criticized claims that external forces like Russia and China are the main sources of misinformation, urging accountability for local politicians' actions.
