Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has inspected the ongoing €2.26 million renovation of the parliamentary chamber, which led to a three-week adjournment that drew criticism from the Majority caucus.
Bagbin justified the break, citing the need to address crucial issues like malfunctioning voting systems and audiovisual equipment.
He also mentioned previous efforts to modernize the chamber into an E-Parliament.
The renovation, partially funded by the government, includes locally produced work tables, with other equipment being imported.
The project is set to be completed by the end of October 2024, just before Parliament reconvenes in 11 days.
