Former Director of the Ghana School of Law, Kwaku Ansa-Asare, has stated that Speaker Alban Bagbin's decision to declare four parliamentary seats vacant cannot be challenged in court.

The ruling, which affects three NPP and one NDC MP, was based on their intent to run as independent candidates in the 2024 elections.

Despite the NPP's plan to contest the decision in the Supreme Court, Ansa-Asare emphasized that Parliament operates under its own standing orders and procedures, making it difficult for courts to overturn such rulings, as Parliament functions independently under the principle of separation of powers.
