A recent forum in Accra revealed that 60% of road crashes in Ghana, resulting in pedestrian and passenger injuries, are due to speeding.

Organized by the Legal Resources Centre, the event aimed to advocate for the passage of the Road Traffic Act and standards for motorcycle helmets.

Between January and June 2024, Ghana recorded 1,237 road crash deaths.

The National Road Safety Authority plans to implement camera technology for monitoring speeding and has launched Traffitech-GH, an automated system to enforce traffic laws, sending violation notifications via SMS.
