Supreme Court adjourns IMANI Africa’s case on presidential powers

The Supreme Court has adjourned a case challenging the President's powers to terminate appointments of key public officers without proven misbehavior.

Imani Africa and Prof. Kwesi Aning filed the case, cited constitutional violations.

They argued that the President lacks authority to dismiss officials unless for proven misconduct.

The state requested seven days to respond, granted by the court. The plaintiffs seek declarations that such dismissals are unconstitutional and demand restraint on presidential dismissal powers.

They highlighted instances of premature dismissals. The case underscores concerns over executive power abuse, urging legal safeguards to protect officials' rights and uphold constitutional principles.
