Supreme Court ruling infringes on Parliament’s authority – Yusif Sulemana

Yusif Sulemana, MP for Bole-Bamboi, has warned the Supreme Court against ruling on politically sensitive matters, claiming such actions undermine Parliament's independence.

Following a Supreme Court decision on October 18, 2024, to stay the Speaker's declaration of four parliamentary seats as vacant, Speaker Alban Bagbin adjourned Parliament indefinitely due to a lack of members present.

Sulemana criticized the court's ruling as a dangerous precedent that could lead to judicial interference in Parliament's affairs. He also noted that the NPP's walk-out during debates reflects a reluctance to adapt to their changing role within Parliament.
