Barry Callebaut launched the Future Farming Initiative (FFI) on April 18, 2024, aiming to create a scalable, sustainable, and profitable cocoa farming model. Led by Executive Chairman Steven Retzlaff, FFI will leverage Barry Callebaut’s sustainability expertise, focusing on technology and R&D to modernize cocoa farming. The initiative begins with a 5,000-hectare pilot in Bahia, Brazil, alongside the integration of the company’s 640-hectare Farm of the Future in Ecuador. Aligned with its Forever Chocolate program, Barry Callebaut’s FFI seeks to drive investment, foster partnerships, and support sustainable cocoa production on a global scale.
