Tap & Go, a prepaid mobile payment service, is set to launch a ride-hailing feature in Ghana on August 12, 2024, introduced by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
This public-private initiative aims to offer drivers in Accra and Kumasi a more profitable and sustainable earning model, following a successful pilot that began in December 2023.
Business Development Manager Simon Martey emphasized the 12% driver commission rate, developed through consultations with drivers, promising earnings up to GH¢18,000 monthly for top performers.
The system includes SSNIT contributions and loyalty rewards, aligning with the government's goal to support local drivers against high foreign ride-share rates.
