The Electoral Commission (EC) has defended its decision to reprint ballot papers for the Volta and Ahafo regions due to serial number discrepancies, emphasizing that election integrity outweighs cost concerns.

Dr. Bossman Asare, Deputy EC Chairman for Corporate Services, explained on Joy News’ PM Express that the discrepancies could have jeopardized the credibility of the elections, potentially leading to rejected ballots.

"The cost is secondary to ensuring a credible, peaceful, and transparent process," he stated.

The EC has involved political parties, the Ghana Police Service, and the National Intelligence Bureau to oversee the destruction of erroneous ballots and ensure accountability.

Dr. Asare reassured Ghanaians of the Commission’s unwavering commitment to transparency and inclusivity in the electoral process.
