Teacher Unions at the pre-tertiary level have suspended their planned October 1 demonstration in Accra after meeting with the Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Ghana Education Service (GES) officials.

The Minister addressed their concerns, showing proof that preparations are underway to pay allowances for teachers in deprived areas.

He also confirmed a 100% increase in the Professional Development Allowance, paid in September.

Previous issues include unpaid Tier-2 pension arrears and delays in promotions and upgrades.
