President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged NDC presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama to clarify his stance on illegal mining, or galamsey, due to Mahama's inconsistent statements on the issue.
Akufo-Addo, during a speech in the North East region, questioned Mahama's commitment to combating galamsey, accusing him of sending mixed signals.
He proposed a nonpartisan political pact to depoliticize the fight against galamsey, citing his own willingness to take political risks to combat the issue.
The President stressed the need for clear action, given galamsey's environmental and economic impact on Ghana.
