The Fourth Estate has petitioned the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to investigate the Ministry of Education and Lifted Logistics (formerly Busy Internet) for potential corruption and procurement violations in awarding an GHS84 million contract for internet services to schools.

The petition follows an investigation revealing Busy Internet owed GHS17 million in taxes and was ineligible for government contracts. The sole-source contract promised GHS6.3 million monthly payments over five years.

Payments totaled GHS119.7 million from 2020 to 2023 despite some schools lacking service. The contract was increased and transferred to Lifted Logistics without parliamentary approval.

The OSP has acknowledged the complaint.
