The 'free breakfast' Assemblyman and Nana Aba Anamoah who 'failed to impress'

An aspiring Assemblymember for Adukrom Nima electoral area in the Ashanti Region has promised to provide free breakfast to his constituents when voted into office.

Hon. Aponkye apart from his promise to provide breakfast also added that when he becomes an Assemblyman, he will be providing every household within his electoral area a biogas toilet facility, provide free tricycles to deal with sanitation as well as job opportunities that will earn the 'boys' GHC 20 daily.

He added that he would also ensure that every Muslim kid enjoys free basic pre-school education, popularly known as Makaranta.

“One house one biogas toilet, free Aboboyaa to deal with sanitation, free makaranta education, free breakfast for every morning. I’m going to do it, a free job for the boys, every day 20 cedis for salary," he said.

When asked by the host of State Affairs on GHOne TV to explain how he can make this promise a reality, Hon. Aponkye said, "So far as I’m in government, I can go to every centre, every office of Ministry or MP or MCE...if it is not easy, Constitution says they should do it for me."

The fast-rising politician and barber buttressed his point by quoting Chapter 5 of the 1992 Constitution, which talks about "Fundamental Human Rights and Freedoms".

"When you read it up till article 28(3), you’ll see it that the state should provide breakfast for the youth like corn dough porridge and Lipton tea,” he told Nana Aba Anamoah.

In actual fact, Chapter 5 of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic Ghana talks about the fundamental human rights and freedoms but does not capture free breakfast for citizens as a fundamental human right.

Article 28(3) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana states "A child shall not be subjected to torture or other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.

Meanwhile, the host is receiving poor reviews from independent media watchers who think the video which has since gone viral is a disgrace to the "celebrity" journalist and her media house.



It is not clear whether Nana Aba Anamoah who owns a media training school is losing viewership and hence planned this as a stunt.

She conducted the interview in her usual serious pose.

To others, she has downgraded GhOne's most popular program by trying to copy "The Real News", a comic relief news show hosted on UTV by Akrobeto, a comedian.





Nana Aba Anamoah once landed in trouble at TV3 when she posted on social media a fake photograph which erroneously gave this impression that she was at a Manchester United match in England.

Fake news is a serious global concern.

Some analysts have simply said Nana Aba Anamoah planned this with her guest, and have asked her to simply apologise.
