Ghanaian legal expert Tsatsu Tsikata has proposed a solution to the country's recurring cedi depreciation, focusing on reducing reliance on foreign goods.
Speaking at the 14th Leadership Dialogue, Tsikata introduced the concept of a "foreign exchange footprint," encouraging Ghanaians to assess their consumption of imported products and switch to local alternatives.
He emphasized the financial impact of remittances from the diaspora, which often exceed mineral export revenues.
Tsikata's approach aims to strengthen local production and reduce import dependency, ultimately stabilizing the cedi and boosting Ghana's economy.
