President Mahama has been given the royal hat promised him by the Tumu Kuoro at his palace after he promised him in 2012 to go and win the presidency and come for the crown.
The Tumu Kuoro, who dressed the president in a black and white woven traditional hat, expressed his happiness on seeing president Mahama assume the reigns of the presidency.
“I would have wished that your presence at my festival would have given it a boost but my invitation to you has not been able to bring you in person. Your coming here today means I have forgiven you as a son since the Gonjas and the Sissalas have a long standing relationship that’s deep rooted” Kuoro Richard said at a short durbar of chiefs of the Tumu traditional council
According to Balu Mohammed of Tumu-based Radford Fm, the chief made several requests from the president including the elevation of the Sissala East District to a municipality, a bus for St. Clare’s Vocational Institute, provision of a Technical School and the completion of the Kanton Senior High stalled dining hall project.
President John Dramani Mahama in response to the requests said he will find out from Mr Sam Garbah, the administrator of the GETFund the state of the dining hall project and ensure that the contractor relocates to site.
He also explained to the Tumu Kuoro his inability attend the annual festival because of tight scheduled assignment that conflicts with the time for the festival.
“The last time I had to attend a meeting at the instance of President Francoi Holland’s. The next one was an AU conference”, he revealed.
The president however promised to attend the next ‘Paragbielle’ festival in whatever capacity with the smock given him by the chief.
