U/E: NEDCo staff protest against proposed merger with VRA, Bui Power Authority

Staff of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) in the Upper East Region have staged a demonstration in solidarity with Volta River Authority (VRA) workers across Ghana, protesting a proposed merger of Bui Power Authority with VRA.

The draft bill, currently before Parliament, also suggests merging NEDCo with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and forming a new Thermal Power Authority from VRA’s thermal facilities.

On September 18, 2024, VRA staff and Public Services Workers Union members protested at VRA headquarters, with spokesperson Princilla Anafo firmly rejecting the merger plan.
