Students at the University of Ghana are frustrated over poor hostel conditions despite a reported $16 million renovation by the Sports Ministry for the 2023 Africa Games.
Videos show leaking roofs and flooding in Dr. Hilla Limann, Alexander Kwapong, Elizabeth Frances Sey, and Jean Nelson Aka halls.
Students claim no significant improvements. University management explains that flooding is due to storm drains and structural issues, which they are addressing.
The Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. Rosina Kyerematen, clarified that the government oversaw the renovations, not the university.
UG Enterprise Limited denied claims of being paid for the preparatory work.
