The Upper East Regional Directorate of the Ghana Health Service has embarked on an exercise to screen and test personnel of the Ghana Police Service in the regional capital, Bolgatanga for the novel coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

The Upper East Regional Officer in charge of Public Relations, ASP David Fianko –Okyere speaking to GhanaWeb in an interview said the exercise was in line with the directive by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for a nationwide test of officers who have been helpful in the enforcement of the preventive protocols in the country.

He explained that today’s exercise was limited to officers within the regional capital, indicating that subsequent exercises would be organized for personnel in the other parts of the region.

ASP Fianko-Okyere said the exercise was necessary as it would help establish the health status of the personnel to better fight the disease.

He expressed satisfaction in the manner the exercise was being organized, adding that a good number of the officers from different units of the command have successfully had their samples taken testing.
