Use Ramadan to state your stance on homosexuality - Asafo Agyei to Veep

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia

As Muslims around the world mark Ramadan fasting and prayer, member of NDC Communication team in the Ashanti Region, Kwaku Asafo Agyei has urged Vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to make his stance known on homosexuality being a Muslim in the first place.

"At least we know the stance of President Nana Akufo-Addo now. He says homosexuality is bound to happen. ...what is the stance of the Vice president as a Muslim?” he quizzed

According to the outspoken communicator, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in opposition with Dr. Bawumia told Ghanaians to vote for NPP so as Vice president he can take Quran to the Flagstaff House.

“NPP in Dr. Buwumia’s own words told Muslims to vote for him in order to take Quran to the Flagstaff House. We know Quran frowns on homosexuality so the Vice President should speak if he supports legalization of homosexuality or otherwise".

“I think every good Muslim should compel him to state if he supports what President Akufo-Addo has said or not”, Mr. Asafo Agyei stated during a panel discussion on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM’s morning show monitored by Kwabena Danso-Dapaah and hosted by Kofi Asante Ennin Monday

Meanwhile, government has rejected claims that President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo has approved same-sex marriages in Ghana.

“Indeed, the President remains focused on delivering on his mandate and improving the quality of lives of the Ghanaian people. It will therefore not be under Akufo-Addo’s Presidency that same-sex marriage will be legalised in Ghana,” a statement signed by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin said.
