In response to last year's Akosombo dam spillage, the Volta River Authority (VRA) is enhancing community engagement to prepare for potential future spills.

Anticipating high water inflows, the VRA plans to release water at 50,000 cubic feet per second, keeping most of it within the river channel.

Benjamin Sackey, VRA's Director of Environment and Sustainable Development, emphasized early preparations to prevent extreme outflows. He assured controlled spills to avoid dam failure and catastrophic consequences.

Minimal impact is expected in areas like Ada East, with precautionary measures including constructing shelters.
