Tomato traders in major markets across Ghana are struggling due to high purchase costs, with prices nearly putting them out of business.

A box of tomatoes now costs between GH¢7,500 to GH¢7,800, up from GH¢4,200 previously.

This has led to a decrease in customers, with many switching to tomato puree instead.

Traders attributed the price hike to transportation costs and exchange rates. They appealed to the government to intervene, as they are not making enough profit.

The situation has affected markets in Accra, Techiman, and the Northern Region, with traders struggling to stay afloat.
