The Executive Secretary of the Cement Manufacturers Association of Ghana (CMAG), Rev. Dr. George Dawson-Ahmoah, has expressed surprise at the Trade Ministry's move to introduce a Legislative Instrument (L.I) to regulate cement prices.

He criticized the Ministry for not consulting CMAG beforehand, questioning the process's transparency.

Dawson-Ahmoah believes the Minister's approach is misguided, emphasizing that economic issues, particularly the Cedi's depreciation, drive cement price hikes.

He urged the government to address

s these underlying economic challenges rather than imposing price regulations. This follows the Minority's opposition to the L.I., demanding it undergo pre-laying procedures before Parliament's formal consideration.
