Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo has criticized Speaker Alban Bagbin's lawyer, Thaddeus Sory, for delays in filing crucial documents regarding the parliamentary seat vacancy case.
During Wednesday's proceedings, she emphasized the urgency of the matter, calling it a “constitutional crisis” and urging Mr. Sory to meet a new deadline by close of business Thursday.
The Supreme Court also dismissed Bagbin’s application to reverse its decision suspending his declaration of four parliamentary seats as vacant.
The Speaker’s team argued the court lacked jurisdiction, but the judges upheld the original ruling, affirming it was legally sound. The next hearing is set for Monday, November 11.
