The Director-General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Prof. Amin Alhassan, has refuted claims made by the Sports Ministry that GBC received over $3 million for covering the 13th African Games.
During a Public Accounts Committee session, Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif claimed GBC was paid more than $3 million.
However, Prof. Alhassan clarified that GBC only received $105,000, which was meant to support their decision to dedicate GTV Sports Plus entirely to the African Games, suspending regular programming.
He expressed surprise at the Minister's statement, emphasizing the much lower amount GBC actually received.
