The General Secretary of the Medical Laboratory Professional Workers’ Union (MELPWU) has apologized for the recent strike that disrupted health services nationwide.
Dr. Cephas Akortor acknowledged the difficulties faced by the public and explained that the strike was a result of the government's delay in addressing their conditions of service.
Despite the potential for a longer strike, the union decided to "add a human face to it" and called off the action after five days.
Dr. Akortor emphasized the critical role of medical laboratory workers, stating that the laboratory is the foundation of healthcare.
