We will improve protection for journalists – IGP

The Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has assured that the Ghana Police Service will intensify efforts to protect journalists during the upcoming election period.

Proactive measures, including offering support and security to journalists at both individual and institutional levels, will be implemented.

On-site security for media houses at strategic locations during special events will also be provided, with the aim of maintaining a low-risk environment for journalists.

These measures are proactive and aimed at being preventive rather than reactive.

The police aim to ensure security and press freedom in Africa.
