The Office of the Speaker of Parliament has announced that it will no longer respond to former Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu's corruption claims, deeming them unfounded.
Amidu had accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC), its 2024 flagbearer, national chairman, and Speaker Alban Bagbin of corruption, alleging Bagbin met President Akufo-Addo in Dubai in 2021 before rejecting the 2022 budget.
Bagbin denied the meeting and demanded a retraction, which Amidu ignored. Chief of Staff Kofi Attor refuted the claims, affirming Bagbin's integrity and criticizing Amidu's lack of evidence.
Attor emphasized his long-standing, corruption-free relationship with Bagbin.
