Edudzi Tameklo, lawyer for Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has reaffirmed his client's innocence, arguing that Forson was being persecuted, not prosecuted.
The Appeals Court, in a 2:1 decision, acquitted Forson and Richard Jakpa, overturning a previous trial court order.
They had been accused of causing a €2.37 million financial loss to Ghana over an ambulance procurement deal.
Attorney General Godfred Dame criticized the ruling as "perverse," but Tameklo expressed confidence in Forson's vindication, even if the case reaches the Supreme Court.
