The Managing Director of the State Transport Corporation (STC), Nana Akomea, has criticized the policy allowing mining in forest reserves.
Speaking on Joy FM, Akomea expressed confusion and disapproval, arguing that the concept of a "reserve" is to protect areas from activities like mining to preserve their natural state.
He highlighted the inconsistency in regulations that prohibit local landowners from small-scale farming in these areas while permitting large-scale mining operations, questioning the rationale behind allowing environmentally harmful activities in protected reserves.
