Special aide to former President John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, who has been much criticized for expressing doubt about Ghana’s Coronavirus recovery numbers, has replied her critics, insisting that she was merely raising serious questions about the statistics and data in respect of the country’s information on COVID-19.
Mrs Bawah Mogtari, a trained lawyer who served as a Deputy Transport Minister under the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama's administration, had questioned how it was possible for 790 persons to recover from the virus in 24 hours after the Ghana Health Service released the updated figures that showed that the said number had recovered from the virus.
Her comment, however, attracted much criticism and outright insults from some people, especially social media users. Several social media users linked her doubting the recovery numbers to witchcraft, wondering whether or not she wants more Ghanaians to die as a result of the virus.
But Mrs Bawa Mogtari, in a tweet, accused her critics of ignoring the serious questions she has raised about the statistics and data.
“When you raise serious questions about statistics and data, they rain insults on you! God help us,” she lamented.
