A member of the National Democratic Congress Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe says the rush in arresting and prosecution of founders of defunct UT and Beige Capital Banks is an indication that government is under pressure.

According to him, the sudden move by the government after several years is to court the love of customers who are peeved at the government.

He made this known while speaking on Accra-based OKay FM.

Lawyer Edudzi Tamakloe noted that in 2016, the woes of DKM and God is Love investors had a great toll on the election which pushed the NDC out of power.

The Lawyer insisted that the prosecution is for political gain as the government is taking undue advantage of the fact that Article 88 of the 1992 Constitution allows it to use the Attorney General’s Department to carry out prosecutions; thus, there was no fairness in the manner in which the founders of the defunct banks were taken to the Circuit Court.

He said “look at the impact the customers of DKM and God Is Love had over the 2016 election, and so the government is under pressure”.
