Professor Smart Sarpong of Kumasi Technical University has urged the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) to withdraw from the December presidential election in honor of their late leader, Akua Donkor.
Speaking on Peace FM’s "Kokrokoo" program, he praised Akua Donkor as an inspiring figure who, despite limited education, became a presidential aspirant.
With the Electoral Commission giving GFP a 10-day deadline to choose a new flagbearer, Prof. Sarpong advised that stepping aside would show respect for Akua Donkor’s legacy, suggesting the party "pull down its flags" in tribute to her contributions.
