The Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Mr Sam Nartey George, is targeting a 20,000-victory margin in the 2020 parliamentary election in his constituency.

Mr George, who won the main opposition National Democratic Congress’ parliamentary primaries with just seven votes last Saturday, has also downplayed claims that his popularity in the constituency is waning.

The keen contest saw the opposition lawmaker poll 407 of the valid votes cast to beat the party’s Constituency Chairman, Mr Michael Kwetey, who garnered 400 votes.

Speaking on Class91.3FM’s current affairs programme, State Of The Nation, on Wednesday, 28 August 2019, Mr George said his focus is on getting a 20,000-victory gap in the next general elections.

He told show host Blessed Sogah that: “More than 99 per cent of Ghanaians thought I was losing this election; very few people believed in me”.

“Even post-election, you’ve seen some individuals stand out, grant interviews, and try to take away from the victory and try to cast aspersions and insinuations, but I’ve come to that place where people can hate, it’s their prerogative; you can hate, it doesn’t stop me from being great and, so, for me, I’m just going to keep my focus on what I have to do.

“My focus is on Operation Gap 20,000. Anybody who doesn’t understand or appreciate the victory, sorry, your loss. As far as I’m concerned, on Sunday morning after my morning prayers, the first thing I did was to call him [Kwetey] and thank him for the contest and encourage him and console him on his defeat and tell him that it wasn’t the end of the road, he was a young man and there are lots of opportunities for him…

“I didn’t campaign with my focus on the elections, I started campaigning for the general election. My campaign I run is not just for delegates, I’ve put in place structures for the general elections. I kicked started my general elections campaign…”

Mr George further disclosed that on Sunday, 1 September 2019, after his thanksgiving service at the Perez Chapel International, he will sit down to launch his Operation 20,000 Gap heading into the 2020 polls.
