Press Release
FIGHT FULANI MENACE IN 30 DAYS OR WE WILL DO IT OURSELVES - AYA TO GOVERNMENT
We the Asante Youth Association is watching in disgust the reckless and violent posture and inclinations of the Fulani herdsmen on the deeds of Agogo.
The deeds of the Fulani herdsmen on that tenement is vicious and treacherous by any stretch of the imagination. For the umpteenth time governments have been keeping a cold-feet in dealing with the menace decisively and convincingly.
It is heart-wrenching to see lives, livelihoods, investments and savings lost to the activities of some selfish and ruthless lot in the name of farming. We are in the era of economic liberalism and anyone engaged in any economic endeavour follows profit motive.
It stands to reason anyone desiring to engage in cattle rearing strictly adheres to the requirements. Acquire your land and fence them. Full and final. Produce your feed. Pure and simple.
We are mindful of the court ruling in 2012 ordering the entire herd to vacate the land. They have been raping, maiming and killing the indigenes with reckless abandon. In the respect of the rule of law this level of patience has been established from the time of the ruling until now, however the shooting incidence that occurred in Agogo in recent days which injured some army officers is telling us a different and sordid story that, Government may not be able to fight this Fulani menace after all. We the Youth will not sit idly-by and watch our brothers and sisters get slaughtered and raped for protecting their farms and lands.
We are therefore giving the government of Ghana an ultimatum of 30 Working days to deal with this issue once and for all, or else we the Asante Youth Association will go to the aid of our brothers and help them get rid of these herdsmen through whatever means possible.
We want the government to treat this press lease with urgency and the seriousness it requires since we have been patient for far too long.
SIGNED
Nana Yaw Brenya
(President)
