2019 AFCON: Ecobank Visa card users to be rewarded

Ecobank Ghana in partnership with Visa has launched a sales promotion to reward users of Ecobank Visa Card for the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The partnership will see to the rewarding of 10, 000 Visa Card users with various prizes such as tickets to watch live matches at accredited viewing centers in Accra, Premium AFCON merchandise, souvenirs, free DSTV decoders, discounted installation and subscription fees as well as Visa Prepaid Cards, loaded with various cash amounts.

According to management of Ecobank, soccer remains the number one passion of Ghanaians and therefore they deem it necessary to ensure people are an integral part of the upcoming AFCON.

Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana Dan Sackey said the initiative is a way to promote AFCON and also to help soccer fans move from cash-based society to a cashless society

“We want to promote the AFCON by first creating the needed excitement, and then sustaining the interest of Ghanaians throughout the tournament.

“This forms part of our agenda to support financial inclusion. We will be delighted if at the end of this promotion, soccer lovers shift their payment from cash-based to cashless transaction.”

Cardholders may use their Ecobank Visa Card to pay for groceries, fuel, salon services, food and more at merchant shops using the point of sale terminal or simply shop online.

Winners will be selected weekly, based on two criteria; Visa card user with the highest number of payments on a point of sale terminal, online or both and visa card user with the highest transaction value on point of the sale terminal.

Country Manager for Visa Adomah Prempeh noted that Visa is passionate about soccer, hence, the decision to partner Ecobank in this promotion.

“Ecobank is one of our greatest partners, not just in Ghana but on the continent, and it makes a lot of sense to partner with them to be able to bring the passion of football to Ghana.

“The fact that Visa has secured the sponsorship of AFCON from now until 2021 clearly shows how Visa is passionate about soccer.”

The tournament in Egypt will host 24 teams, including the Black Stars of Ghana, with 52 matches at six stadia, and in five cities.

The first promotion to select winners who will be travelling to Cairo will run from May 2 to May 23, 2019.
