Nathaniel Adjei, a promising young defender from Lorient, has been called up to the Black Stars for the first time after making a notable impact in France’s Ligue 2.
With nine strong appearances this season, he is included in Ghana’s squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
Previously, Adjei was selected for friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda but had to withdraw due to injury. Now fully fit, the 22-year-old from Teshie is set to make his competitive debut under head coach Otto Addo.
Ghana faces a tough challenge in the qualifiers, needing to win both matches—first against Angola on November 15 in Luanda, followed by a game against Niger three days later.
Their chances of qualifying for AFCON 2025 also hinge on Sudan losing all their remaining matches.
Adjei's inclusion bolsters Ghana's defense, but he will need to demonstrate his capabilities on the international stage.
