Deputy Director General of the National Sports Authority, Bawa Majeed, has defended the state of the Baba Yara Stadium after criticism following Ghana’s 1-0 loss to Angola in the 2025 AFCON qualifier.
Responding to complaints about the pitch, Bawa sarcastically asked if Angola "were playing in the sky," emphasizing that both teams played on the same surface. He pointed out that CAF had inspected and approved the pitch.
Angola's coach Pedro Goncalves criticized the poor condition, suggesting Ghana deserved better facilities.
The pitch's deterioration was partly due to a church program held at the stadium in July.
