Ghana managed to level the score in the second half, with Alexander Djiku heading in from a Jordan Ayew delivery. Djiku then crucially cleared his lines to deny Cape Verde a lead after a close call.

In the 84th minute, substitute Garry Rodrigues capitalized on a defensive error from the Ghanaian side, tapping the ball into an empty net and securing a late victory for Cape Verde.

With this win, Cape Verde currently leads Group D with three points. Ghana will face Egypt on Thursday, January 18, at the Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny.
