Andre Ayew calmed my nerves on my World Cup debut – Gideon Mensah

Ghanaian defender Gideon Mensah has shared that Andre Dede Ayew played a crucial role in helping him adjust before his debut World Cup match.

In 2022, Mensah represented the Black Stars, marking their return to the tournament after missing the 2018 edition.

Initially, Abdul Baba Rahman was the preferred left-back, having participated in a friendly against Switzerland and the opening match against Portugal.

However, Mensah was given the chance to start in Ghana's second match against South Korea, which ended in a tight 3-2 victory for his team.
