Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan and John Paintsil are both stranded in England as they were both denied visas to join the Black Stars inFrance, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.
The revelation is another blow to the preparation of the Black Stars ahead of their participation in January’s Nations Cup.
This comes after Sierra Leone pulled out of a scheduled friendly on Saturday.
The four-time African champions are camping in Paris ahead of Tuesday’s friendly against Gabon.
The two players were supposed to have joined the squad inFrance on Thursday but have been forced to delay their departure because of the French Embassy’s ‘intransigence’.
They could not make an appeal on Friday because the French embassy is closed as it is a holiday inFrance.
Gyan, who is based in the UAE, has been in England after joining Puma to launch the new Black Stars jerseys.
Pantsil plays in England and were supposed to have flown with youngster Jeff Schlupp who was left to travel on his own.
The two players are expected to speak with coach Goran Stevanovic who will decide whether they should return to their clubs or stay in London to fight for their visas.
If they stay in London and they are not given visas on Monday or there is a delay, they will miss Tuesday’s friendly.
